Hasbro Launches New Transformers R.E.D. 6-Inch Figure Series with G1 Optimus Prime G1 Megatron

In an unexpected reveal today sandwiched in between Star Wars toy announcements and the impending G.I. Joe Classified Series Cobra Commander figure comes a special surprise from Hasbro. They have announced a new Transformers line called ‘Transformers R.E.D. (Robot Enhanced Design Series) and they are kicking off the wave with G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron. This series, much like Power Rangers Lightning, Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and G.I. Joe Classified stands 6 inches tall and comes with in interchangeable parts and accessories. They will also be in the same price range with an MSRP of $19.99.

And speaking of Power Rangers Lightning Collection, let’s get some Megazords in this scale so my Astro Megazord can fight a Soundwave!

According to official Hasbro press, Megatron includes “a Fusion Cannon, four alternate hands including one that holds an Energon cube,” as well as an interchangeable hand holding an “Energon Mace accessory.” Optimus comes with “four alternate hands, Ion Blaster, Energon Axe,” and opening his chest reveals the “iconic Matrix of Leadership.”

For the purests, no, these figures do not transform. They are forever in robot mode, which is a 50-50 fight among collectors, as most things tend to be.

Preorders for the Transformers R.E.D. series Megatron and Optimus Prime go live on June 26 at 1 pm ET at Walmart.com and Hasbro Pulse in the US. Both list for $19.99 and ship September 1, 2020.

It will be interesting to see how these are received. Currently, we have the Earthrise figures in a similar price range (which transform) and of course, the premium Masterpiece line from Takara Tomy. But these can pose with your Star Wars figures, so your dreams of Bumblebee battling C3-PO can finally come true and stuff.
