London Toy Fair is here, and in traditional Funko style, news of brand-new Pop! figures are the first out the gate. I’m always discussing it here on Toy Wizards, be it in article or video form, but the collecting culture seems to take issue with Funko Pop! toys. I feel like all of us have a few obscure ones in our collections, but at the end of the day, many collectors go “Oh great, the Funko Pop! was announced…so when is news of the real action figure coming?”
But I’m always saying it – Funko manages to get you with at least one, no matter how immune you think you are. Tom Servo and Crow from MST3K? Let me get those. Chester Cheetah? Get over here, girl. The Drunk Penguin from Billy Madison? Pour another cocktail mate, let’s party.
You get where I’m going with this.
So, 90s kids – this batch is for you. Because we’re kicking off the London Toy Fair Funko Pop! previews with Gummi Bears (the ones that bounce here and there and everywhere with a theme song more memorable than the show), leading right into Dinosaurs where “I’m the baby, gotta love me” meets “What the f*ck was wrong with that last episode?!?!”
If you don’t know, you can go do a Netscape search or something for it. I’ll wait here.
Check out the newest in this collection – Legend of Korra fans might be delighted to find characters from the show (man, that show fell apart) and even Pop! figures of the girls from The Craft (Team Fairuza!) and Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy.
Get radical – it’s the 90s.
