Source: Bustle

This November marks the 40th anniversary of the first-ever Happy Meal. In honor of four decades of red boxed-delight, McDonald’s is introducing a limited-edition Happy Meal which will feature some fan-favorite throwback toys from the past forty years. Dubbed the Surprise Happy Meal, the limited-time offering will be available in more than 90 countries starting Nov. 7 at participating locations. For those of us in the U.S., the Surprise Happy Meal will be available until Nov. 11 or until supplies last.

An official press release from McDonalds corp gives more details, including a quote that strokes the awesomeness of allowing us 80s/90s kids to re-collect some relics of our lost childhood:

“We can’t wait for fans to relive the childhood joy that comes from opening a Happy Meal box and anticipating which toy is inside,” the press release states. I, for one, cannot wait to mentally relive the guilt trip I gave my parents when a new toy came out that I desperately “needed.” “Since the Happy Meal was introduced on the menu, it quickly became synonymous with our brand,” Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s CEO, said in a press release. “Today, this iconic red box creates lasting memories for billions of families annually across the world.”

It’s no surprise that for me personally, I was a child who was probably fed way too much McDonalds. However, I legitimately played with those toys. The dress up McNuggets were bath-time squirt toys. The Barbies were fairies that found their way into my games. Those transforming food items that turned into robots? They were my first Transformers. And the third wave that were food-turned-dinosaurs? Those were…yeah.

We have until November 11th to try to collect some of these amazing toys, lost to the sands of time. I personally will try not to freak out any of the confused teenagers working at my local McDonalds when I lunge across the counter, waving money, screaming “I’m a toy collector and I need it!!”

And no, I won’t give them the “I really think this collection should have included Mac Tonight” lecture, either, thanks.

But like really, it totally should have.
