It was 1977… when STAR WARS sent shockwaves not just through the movie business, but pop culture itself, including the toy business! It was galactic, cosmic, star, space-mania! Kenner Star Wars figures weren’t quite ready for the market… but that’s okay, the infamous Starroid Raiders were ready for launch!
Hong Kong-based indie toy manufacturer Tomland Toys released a wave of space action figures that were leaner, cheaper, and more than ready to explore the far regions of the galaxy! These unique figures could be found in drug stores and gas stations at low cost. Charming ugly space weirdos that… if you squinted or used your child-like imagination, might look vaguely like an alien that could be found in a cantina on a now famous desert planet. If your family was on a budget, or your grandma didn’t know the difference between “all this alien nonsense” you most likely wound up with a Starroid for your birthday… for better or for worse…
But—apart from being cheap knockoffs from a far off solar-system known as Hong Kong—they are charmingly lovable. Produced in bold, bright colors, with attention grabbing head sculpts, and weird chest-sticker designs, these misfits and underdogs of the toy box have lived on to become beloved by toy collectors in every quadrant of the galaxy. Rare, and almost impossible to find with accessories or in good shape.

The PLANETOID RAIDERS campaign on Kickstarter will launch with a single Arcade Raider available as an add on, and for each funding milestone raised (above our funding goal) backers will UNLOCK additional Arcade Raiders Action Figures (that will be made available as a new add-on option to everyone!) There are SIX more, on the launch pad… waiting for the signal to GO!
For Packaging, Arcade Raiders (single figure) will come bagged with a hang tag (like your favorite Japanese monster toys) but IF and WHEN our campaign reaches $65k in funding we’ll unlock plastic Arcade Cabinet style blind box packaging! At which point all Arcade Raiders will come packaged individually in 1/18 scale arcade cabinet packages! Let’s make it happen!”

Final product may slightly vary from the pictured prototypes. As we work through the manufacturing process we will keep all backers up-to-date with the status of the Planetoid Raiders, and … just like our other toys, the final product will be completely awesome!
Work is already well under way on the Planetoid Raiders! All 3D files have been sculpted, 3D prototypes have been printed, painted, design discussions and manufacturing needs have already been discussed with the factory. Here’s a glimpse into the process of bringing these lovable space weirdos to life!

Once the toys enter the manufacturing process, you’ll receive a Backerkit notification that will allow you to designate where you want your toys shipped… Then, AFTER THE MANUFACTURING PERIOD, ONCE YOUR ITEMS HAVE ARRIVED FROM OUR FACTORY AND ARE READY FOR FULFILLMENT, WE WILL CHARGE YOU FOR SHIPPING (and possible tariffs). Wandering Planet was launched by two friends/toy fans who spend their days as professional TV animation, comicbook and video game writers/producers, and their nights putting together toy lines for their collections and yours.
