Sweet Suite 2026: The Loyal Subjects Continues Retro and Modern Goodness

By Jonathan Alexandratos

At Sweet Suite, one company I was most excited to see was The Loyal Subjects. I’m always interested to know which toys they’ll bring into the 21st Century next. I learned, however, that there’s plenty of modern properties in their catalogue, too.

I own The Loyal Subjects M.A.S.K. Wave 1 Thunderhawk and their take on My Pet Monster. I’m glad to see these lines grow with new pieces that were rare (the football My Pet Monster) or never made (the glow-in-the-dark M.A.S.K. vehicles). While these build out many collections, fans will have to decide whether the price ($50 for the smallest M.A.S.K. offering here) is worth the reward. In The Loyal Subjects’ defense, these M.A.S.K. items are limited run pieces, and that may, if demand exists, up their value in the long run. That is, as always, a gamble, so I’d decide to buy not from speculation, but from genuine excitement around a retro toy gone glow-in-the-dark. For what it’s worth, the M.A.S.K. vehicles on display felt more solid than the company’s first forays into this world of transformable vehicles.

I do think The Loyal Subjects is even more successful when it comes to their cheaper figurines. There are some coming from the Palworld universe, a highly popular game chock full of little creatures that remind me of Pokémon (though the courts have just ruled that they are most definitely not, and are entirely distinct from, Pokémon!). The Loyal Subjects will also produce the first Hunger Games figurines in years, an adventure into the toyetic property that the company is rightly proud of.

Ultimately, there’s something for everyone here. Regardless of any critique, I feel comfortable asserting, from my now many conversations with The Loyal Subjects designers and staff, that the company is formed from passion. Every person I’ve spoken with has looked at the brand through an enthusiastic and critical lens in order to make their products as great as can be. This motivates me to keep coming back to the ever-evolving brand, eager to see what they’re working on next.
