Wave 2 of Playmates’ Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers line was on display at Suite Sweet, offering a better glimpse at that Walmart-exclusive Saba set, the Thunderzords, and more.

We’re also getting an Aisha, deepening the company’s investment into the three-decade old IP.

Look. I love this. Power Rangers hooked me from “Day of the Dumpster,” and I never looked back. But I am wondering: are the old teenagers with attitude, who are now drifting, as I am, toward the receiving end of AARP mailers (not to age-shame, just to realistically say we’re all older than we were in 1993), still of interest to enough young kids to sustain the head-flippers we’ve seen pass through a couple of other companies’ hands? I don’t know. I tend to infer, from the presence of the line, that the answer is yes. I hope new audiences find meaning in that which grabbed me, especially now as new Ranger stories seem ever in flux. I appreciate Playmates’efforts to keep the Power Rangers world fresh, and there’s a lot here, like the rocket-firing features on the Zords, that does that. It’s now just a question of whether consumers will keep going for it.
