Blitzway Presents Voltron: Defender of the Universe Carbotix Series Voltron

Wow– sweet mother of Mecha, can you believe what Blitzway is showing off here? Move of Soul of Chogokin to the 100th power…we have a monstrous….voluminous Voltron coming soon.

From the experience I personally have with Blitzway and its products, their work is always beyond “on point”– it’s the animated creations from our childhood come to life. I own the Inspector Gadget set that came out last year (which cost $200, not $700) and other than the fact that I wish his gloves were yellow and not brown, it is one of the nicest looking toy sets I own. Similarly, when Blitzway revealed the Popeye set recently, I found its accuracy jaw dropping.

With Voltron now announced, this is just massive. Insane. Bonkers. And fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhk- expensive.

The price is likely 100% justified in the number of accessories and the cost of building materials. But it is coming at a strange time. Remember the $700 self-transforming robotic Optimus Prime that Hasbro announced during one of its numerous live streams last year? Well– people are now beginning to get invoiced for those. Fortunately, Voltron here is a pre-order which means once you order him, you won’t get charged until shipping (which is Q1 2022) but it’s a steep price point. It’s high roller. It makes me feel not quite as dumb that I purchased that Hot Toys Grogu for $400.

But this is where we are in toys and collectibles– the average collector with a shelf filled with Hasbro action figures and NECA is now being presented with more expensive options. Super7 Snake Mountain. HasLab Unicron. Sentinels. Mattel Creations’ Jumbo Machinder Shogun Skeletor. A self-transforming Optimus Prime. Premium art statues by Sideshow, PCS Collectibles, and Iron Studios. How many Mezco One:12 and Hot Toys did I drunkenly preorder? Can I justify that Chogokin? Man, those Threezero Power Rangers look sick. And now alas– the $700 Blitzway Voltron.

The fact is, these collectible pieces really can and do appreciate in value. Especially after their run is done. And as all of us know, if you miss it the first time, you pay for it on that secondary market. These Voltrons, though it may be hard to believe it now, will be sold for over $1000 easily on eBay and at toy shows in five years or so. Hell, LEGO Voltron has gone for over $300. That $60 Playmates Voltron? Super7 Ultimates? All of them appreciate. So, it’s just something to consider as you fall deeper down the Voltron tunnel.

And I’ll be the head!

Product Description

Introducing the VOLTRON, a new CARBOTIX series that Blitzway has ambitiously prepared. In order to perfectly reproduce the Voltron that appears in the anime, Blitzway carefully analyzed the five lions. Free-moving joints that could reproduce their dynamic poses in the animation, while maintaining perfect proportions while in their lion states. It has been made possible to maintain perfect proportions without losing shape even when the five lions are combined to form Voltron.

Various materials were considered to provide a little fun during the assembly process. To ensure that you don’t experience any stress when combining the figures, unnecessary structures have been boldly removed. Like other transforming robot series, alloy parts have been used in the right places to give the satisfying feeling of holding a heavy robot. Each lion’s eyes have an LED light to create an animated robot appearance, and the cover that hides unnecessary parts when the robots are combined achieves the appearance of Voltron with a higher degree of perfection.

The included action base enables you to display each lion as if they are floating in the air using support shaped as a trajectory of light representing each lion. This support can also be used to mount weapons when combined into the form of Voltron.
