Masters of the Universe UNO Proves There Can Only Be One…Billion Versions of UNO

At this point, the number of UNO decks available to the pop culture ether is like a personal joke between me and Mattel, only Mattel has no idea that we’re playing a game because well… they have no idea who I am! But with that aside, those little stinkers, the number of UNO decks they pump out (based on their own original IPs or licensed properties) is nothing short of amazing.

UNO was the toy of the year in 2019, you know.

But in all seriousness, not only does UNO gain the level of pop culture majesty and visibility that say, Monopoly does, but it’s quicker and far more tolerable. UNO got me through some tough time as an kid living in Israel when I had few friends to play with me. I was too shy to speak Hebrew, but I was like, “Hey, if I can count to four, I can teach some kids to play UNO with me.” And it worked! I will always be grateful to UNO for that memory.

This unique card game may play like classic UNO, but this time every card has an Item icon in the corner. The Items don’t do anything during normal play—but when the wild Item Box Card is played, the player flips over the top card of the Draw Pile and immediately uses the Item on that card! Each Item has a different action.
