All righty, it’s model kit review time. And I’m excited to say that this was my very first Star Wars model kit!

Similarly with my Toy Story model kit reviews (check out Buzz here and Woody here), I had to ponder whether or not this kit would be geared toward the casual model kit builder or someone with experience. Is there a predetermined notion that people of Western fandoms don’t like to build model kits? Are these for the Japanese market? What is going on inside a non-Gundam (or robots in general) model kits?

The BB8 and D-0 diorama kit is very simple and straightforward. I want to say I built it in about two hours. What was a little odd is that it came with a bunch of extra little bits and pieces, and there was a piece that was straight up unusable. It showed up in the instructions, but the pieces didn’t fit together or snap into the base.

Once completed, the kit looks great, and the figures of the droids are absolutely adorable. This kit comes with a lot of stickers that are TINY, the sort that I would normally apply with a toothpick. However, for a build this quick, I’m not really motivated to spend an extra 1-2 hours applying tiny, tiny stickers. It’s more like a “Oh, that was fun” and move on sort of build.

I give the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker BB-8 and D-0 1:12 Scale Model Kit by Bandai 3/5 Parsecs.
