This really must have been the only way Entertainment Earth could figure out how to get rid of those Star Wars Black Box Action Figures.
The Rose Tico ones, no less.
You know what the most ironic part about this is, other than the fact that the real flowers don’t come with this set of twelve bummers from the (now discount) Star Wars Black Box series, brought to us by Hasbro.
The most unromantic Star Wars character is here, proclaims Entertainment Earth, to shove into twelve begrudging roses (the real flowers) to help make your Valentine’s Day stink less.
Let me provide my perspective. Feel free to disagree.
When Star Wars: The Last Jedi was coming into theaters, Rose Tico actress Kelly Marie Tran was bombarded by angry fans of the series. She was attacked via social media to the point where she just deleted her accounts. She went on to say that she felt fans attacked her because of her ethnicity and the fact that she was a woman. Maybe that they felt she was unattractive. All of these reasons are cruel and untrue.
Rose is a character that was dumped into our laps and did not earn her adventure. Remember the sister character that she and Finn kept referring to? That is the character who should have been at Finn’s side. She could have been played by Tran herself, tht part doesn’t matter. But it’s the ‘sister out of nowhere’ character that we’re forced to care about that doesn’t work for many of us.
Since we’re discussing Valentine’s Day and romance, it’s important to note that Finn and Rose are not #RelationshipGoals. Have you ever had that sweet and nerdy friend that doesn’t date much, and therefore will latch onto any girl that gives him the time of day? Therefore, you and your friends go to your usual Friday watering hole and he shows up with a girl that just doesn’t fit in, thinks you’re all scum bags, doesn’t know why you’re making poop jokes in your late twenties, and has a glare that could burn a hole in the side of your face?
That character is Rose Tico.
