You’re sitting around a bonfire with the people you care about most, swapping stories and laughing about unique experiences of your life to date. That fellowship, bonding and playfulness is encapsulated in a new card game called SCARS.
A serious name with playful intent, SCARS is a card game made up of body-centered questions that allow people to normalize experiences, share stories and connect. Some examples of questions in the 54 card deck:
- Have your eyes ever seen something you can’t explain?
- Do you have any tattoos?
- What’s the story behind your hairstyle?
- How did you get your first scar?
SCARS strives to normalize and embrace what it means to have a range of different bodies and that each and every body’s journey is valid, unique, worth sharing and being heard.
The game’s co-founder, Erin Montgomery, has a background in the wellness sector. SCARS was born out of lessons learned to date with an emphasis on the importance of self care, mental health and human connection.
SCARS can also be customized with optional add-on decks: opt for the (More) SCARS expansion pack to continue body-focused conversations or the (Sex)pansion pack (18+) to bring forth conversations around sex.
