Kaiyodo Reveals New Amazing Yamaguchi Series No.014 Convoy/Optimus Prime

Kaiyodo’s Amazing Yamaguchi Revoltech line continues to make me so, so happy.

Coming out this September with an MSRP of about $65 comes a beautifully designed and sculpted Optimus Prime, known as Convoy in Japan. He is available for preorder now.

I find the chunky cartoonish design and the bright popping colors so appealing. This is how I want an Optimus Prime figure to look. Granted, judging by the sample images, he cannot transform into a truck. And no, he still doesn’t come with a trailer. But if you’re after an awesome Optimus Prime action figure that celebrates him in his robot form in a really great price point (higher than a toy-toy, but lower than some of the ‘destroy your wallet’ Transformers collectibles), this figure would be amazing as an addition to your Transformers collection or as a jump-off for people new to the game.

From HobbyLink Japan’s Website:

This is a posable action figure from the Revoltech series.

The legendary Optimus Prime, called Convoy in Japan, is the first robotic character to join Kaiyodo’s Amazing Yamaguchi action figure series! His design is based on the American comics from the 2000s, with a contemporary interpretation by master sculptor Yamaguchi Katsuhisa! All joints are newly designed for superior posability and an outstanding sense of movement like you’ve never experienced before; for example, the shoulder joints swing freely back and forth, and the knees and elbows move deeply in different directions too. The body is made of a hard ABS plastic to achieve extra-sharp modelling. Order yours today!
